Colour tips and tricks
All blues and greens go together, as do yellows; oranges and greens are perfect matches, and even browns and oranges. Numerous combinations are possible, whether you use waxed concretes (72 colours), mineral paints (more than 300) or resins (more than 200).
However, although colour creates perspective and allows you to play with the volumes of a room, using more than one colour in the same room can reduce the space. So, in the style of the designer Andrée Putman, why not use several shades of a particular colour in the same room? A range of grey coloured concretes (pewter, silver, steel, pearl grey, dove grey, etc.) will create a wonderful illusion of light and shade, whatever the time and amount of sunlight.

A little interior decor guidance
We don’t all see the colours of coloured concrete or mineral paint in the same way, and yet it is useful to be aware of some of their characteristics when embarking on a decorating project. Cold colours, such as blues, greens and lilacs, are calming and soothing. Hot colours, including yellows, oranges and reds, create energy and promote creativity.
You can also refer to the trends for 2009 identified at the Maison et Objets trade show to help you choose. A return to our roots, simplicity and nature is anticipated by interior designers. Their interpretation of this trend means a return to materials that are unrefined (like our decorative concretes) and soothing (such as waxed plaster coating) in virginal white for a neo-monastic bedroom (which could be covered with waxed concrete, silicate coat for stucco, epoxy resin or mineral paint).

No such thing as a miracle? Turn this to your advantage!
The darker and more matt the colour, the more it absorbs light. A room with little light, because there is no window or because it faces the wrong way, will still be dark even if it is painted white. Therefore, depending on its use (small office, bedroom, library), use dark shades, large areas of colours and increase the number of light sources (wall lights, lamps and lights). A piece of advice: always choose your colours in daylight.
To choose the right colour, learn about the rules of harmony, the pitfalls to avoid, the different styles, the decision-making criteria, etc. Why not attend one of our training courses?
