The world of waxed concrete bathrooms by Marius Aurenti

A bathroom in waxed concrete, soft harmony

Sober, minimalist, classic thanks to its mineral look but modern thanks to its industrial feel, the waxed concrete gives a bathroom a very pleasant class and elegance.

Naturally warm, waxed concrete stores heat and gives the impression of being at the same temperature as the air in the room, just like wood, unlike metal and glass, which feel colder.

Hygienic, it helps keep a room clean and safe: dust mites and microscopic fungi have nowhere to hide. Originally porous, it becomes water-repellent after a coat of wood stain or varnish.

How do you lay decorative concrete in a bathroom?

Waxed concrete in the bathroom can be adapted to a wide range of surfaces in both new build and renovation projects.

In new, water-susceptible areas, concrete is laid over a liquid waterproofing system (LWSS), e.g. the waterproofing system Schlüter-KERDI or on panels and trays Wedi with specific preparation.

For renovation, the application of waxed concrete over old bathroom tiles will enable you to renovate without removing the coating in just 2mm thickness.
