Le Journal de la Maison – December 2016

“I was born in the 18th arrondissement of Paris and have never left,” says Delphine. It was her strong attachment to her Montmartre “Village” that made her want to invest there and settle down with her partner Maxime. Delphine is passionate about everything she does. She decided to buy this combination of two dilapidated, poorly arranged studios after a first and only visit. “Everything had to be rethought, and this coup de coeur presaged many months of work. But the peace and quiet, the view over the rooftops and the perspective of the legendary “Moulin de la galette” were worth it. Delphine and Maxime called on the services of architect Nissim Haguenauer (Gare du Nord architecture). The trio quickly agreed to respect the classical character of the place, while adapting it to the lifestyle of today’s couple. The entire space had to be redesigned, and eight walls were knocked down. “I wanted to keep the space spacious, which is why there are two forty-square-meter areas. One dedicated to reception, the other to privacy. The architect imagined the space as a luxurious hotel suite,” she explains. For the decor, Delphine stayed true to the world of her Brazilian jewelry brand Hipanema. “I love to hunt and mix genres, and nothing is more valuable to me than the pieces I bring back from my travels. Shell necklaces from Indonesia, turquoise knives from Arizona, Indian thrones”. Maxime, more sober, loves industrial, Scandinavian and fifties-ish objects, and Delphine had to fight hard to impose her Jansen floor lamps. But Delphine’s arguments prevailed, and we’re seduced by them throughout the visit.”

“An exotic touch. Open shower treated with waxed concrete by Marius Aurenti, Grohe fittings, Wow ceramic floor tiles. Custom-made armchair design in India, butterfly globe sourced from Ghislam Antiques in Saint-Ouen.”
