Over the past 20 years, microcement has established itself as a must-have covering for decorating homes and public spaces. For the past four years, cement tiles have been back in fashion, and with them, over 100 years of history have graced our floors and walls. Their geometric or floral motifs are a natural fit for living rooms, bathrooms and kitchens.
It’s only natural that these two cousins, cement tiles and microcement, should combine easily in architectural designs. Both are complementary. With its continuous application, the purity and minimalism of microcement lighten the busy, geometric look of cement tiles.
In the photos of this Geneva home, we appreciate the layout of the cement-tiled carpet, in perfect harmony with the white pepper color of the Marius Aurenti microcement floor.
This creation by Nancy Geernaert’s Just’in Home architectural practice in Paris is an example of the perfect mastery of the work involved in preparing the subfloor (underfloor heating) and the height of the reservations, as well as the harmony of color between the tiles and the concrete.
In detail, we note that a separating profile was planned between the tiles and the microcement, but this – quite rightly on the owner’s initiative – was not installed in order to preserve the continuity of the mineral material on the floor.
